Design trends in Texas homes are evolving beyond the “either-or” mindset. Homeowners no longer have to choose between carpet or hardwood — they can embrace both. The art of layered living is all about blending materials to balance texture, warmth, and style. At EFS Flooring America, we help McKinney homeowners use the strengths of each flooring type to create homes that are as inviting as they are practical.
Hardwood adds natural sophistication, making it the star of main living areas. Its durability and value make it ideal for entryways, kitchens, and great rooms. Yet, no matter how stunning hardwood is, it can’t replicate the plush luxury of carpet beneath your feet — especially in bedrooms, nurseries, or entertainment spaces where comfort takes priority.
Blending the two requires thoughtful transitions. Our design team often uses color-matched thresholds or creative layout shifts — like herringbone or diagonal patterns — to visually connect spaces while defining zones. The transition from hardwood to carpet can create a sensory journey: crisp, cool surfaces that give way to soft textures, offering both sophistication and comfort under one roof.
For homes with open layouts, we use flooring to subtly shape space. Hardwood might run continuously through the kitchen and dining areas, while a soft, high-pile carpet anchors the living space, creating visual warmth without walls.
We also love pairing patterned carpets with hardwoods to add personality. Think bold geometric patterns meeting the clean grains of walnut or maple — a designer’s dream combination.
At EFS Flooring America, we take care of more than just flooring. As general contractors, we can coordinate your entire remodel — repainting walls to complement your new carpet, updating trim to frame your hardwood, or even replacing lighting fixtures to balance the tones of your flooring. Every element contributes to a cohesive, curated look.
When thoughtfully combined, carpet and hardwood transform a home into a dynamic, multi-sensory experience. Whether you’re in McKinney, Frisco, Allen, or Prosper, our team at EFS Flooring America is ready to bring your layered living vision to life.
